In most of the cases of eviction, legal intervention is required. It is required for getting stay on eminent eviction, proper rehabilitation of the victims and challenging the development plan itself etc. In the case of eviction, no such direct law or act governs this. In this scenario it becomes important to establish matter of the facts correctly and site the safety from the Constitution of India, National and State Policies or other international laws and conventions for this.

There are instances where Authorities do not do survey correctly in case of development based eviction. In such scenarios, these petitions need to be annexed with affidavits.

Indian Cities have seen more than 500 incidents of forced evictions in last two years. With three major urban infrastructure development schemes in line of its completion in next three years these could see more incidents. We need to be prepared to fight against these forces. In last 3 years we have intervened in about 30 incidents of forced evictions across five cities and have been successful in creating community awareness against this. We aim at community empowerment to fight against the forced eviction.
